These are the ten key pieces of information you need to get an accurate boat transportation quotation:

Dimensions are of absolute importance when requesting a quote to have your boat transported. Remember, it is very important to be accurate with your measurements.

• Put your motors or outdrives in the raised position. Measure the overall length of your vessel, remembering to include out drives or motors, bow pulpits, swim platforms, and motor brackets.
• To measure the height of your boat, measure from the highest part of the vessel, which is non-removable, to the bottom of the keel or the lowest point of the vessel’s props and rudders.
• To measure the beam of the boat, you measure the widest portion of the vessel and include anything that is attached to it.

If your boat is about to get moved by a boat transport company these are the main things that have to be prepared before pick up:

• Masts must be lowered and either secured on the deck or completely stripped (spreaders, lights, wind instruments, antennas, etc) so that the mast can be transported on the bed of our trailer. Booms and spinnaker poles should either be placed down below or securely fastened on the deck.
• All canvases should be removed. Any covers or canopies left on are moved at your own risk.
• All warps, fenders, life rings, and other loose items on deck should be stowed. Anchors should be secured.
• Aerials should be lowered, and hatches and windows secured.
• Depending on the type of boat and where it is being transported from and to the following items may need to be removed; radar arch, propellers, rudders, light mast, and windscreen. The radar dome itself should be removed and placed in the cabin.
• Water tanks and bilges should be drained. Water, gas, electric, and fuel supplies should be switched off.
• Remove any hazardous or flammable materials.
• Tenders on davits and outboards on brackets should ideally be removed and stowed below the deck. If left attached they should be properly secured.
• Outdrives (if fitted) should be fully raised.
• We will also need the following original documents: registration document, and proof of purchase (bill of sale) if is the case.
• Secure all the cabins
• During transport, canvas covers must be removed as this will prevent them from tearing or flying away. The transporter will not be responsible for damages, if these covers are not removed.
